I work for a charity that works in Haiti and my colleague and I had a complicated trip to plan to get to Haiti to open a school that we had built. We had to go via New York as we were filming a documentary. Wendy organised the whole trip for us without a hitch and then Hurricane Irene struck! Close I would just like to say for years now we have booked all our holidays through Julie Fraser at Travel Counsellors. We keep coming back to her because she is THE BEST! We always travel in a large family group, changing our mind, adding people onto bookings and probably being a complete nightmare! Last year she even took the time to speak to one of my two year old twins on the phone to tell her about the aeroplane. Close Steve at Travel Counsellors is the best! As soon as my original flight was cancelled due to the ash cloud, he was straight on the case. Not only did he get me on the earliest flight possible at the time, but he put me on a few waiting lists too. The first flight was on 2 May, then he got me the 29 April, then 25 April and finally he managed to get me home on 23 April! He kept in touch with my mum and dad for me too.

Over the last year he has arranged a number of holidays for us to Kenya and Morocco and helped us rearrange flights for our son to South Africa. Close I once booked a wonderful birthday trip for my girlfriend that I noticed in the window of a high street travel agents. Normally I would use Travel Counsellors (Pat Wright) but this looked a great offer; a weekend in Rome with five star hotel and transfers. The day came and we turned up at Stanstead waiting to check in. When our turn came we found to our distress my girlfriend's passport had expired. She was distraught. We couldn't travel, so once outside the airport I called Pat and she advised my girlfriend to make an appointment with the passport office and to get a new passport. Pat said she would find us another weekend in Rome. This she did, in a better hotel with the same travel arrangements but at a cheaper price! So off we went the next weekend and I have since stayed in the same hotel on several occasions. The moral of the story? Check your passport and leave the travel arrangements to the experts!
